Born in 1950, Boris Stern was admitted to the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) in 1967 and graduated in 1973. That same year, he commenced his work at the Institute of Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Troitsk. He later earned a Doctorate of Science in Physics and Mathematics and is now a renowned international astrophysicist and a leading researcher at the Institute for Nuclear Research (INR).
He has published dozens of scientific articles and research papers. "The Ark 47 Librae" is his first book about space published in English. Boris Stern is also recognized as a writer and a scientific journalist, primarily focusing on space science fiction, which aligns with his expertise in the scientific domain.
Detection by numerical method of a state with a baryon number 2 in the field-theoretic model of Skirm (together with Kopeliovich V. B.)
Theoretical detection and numerical investigation of the mechanism of dissipation of relativistic shock waves and jets into radiation through a nonlinear conversion mechanism of energy transfer into particles, alternative to Fermi acceleration
Interpretation of X-ray spectra of active galactic nuclei through a hot corona model from an equilibrium electron-positron plasma
Detection of about a thousand new "non-trigger" gamma-ray bursts in the archival records of the BATSE experiment.
Explanation of the fractures in the spectra of bright blazars obtained by the Fermi gamma-ray observatory by photon-photon absorption on the radiation of doubly ionized helium through the generation of electron-positron pairs. This determines the spatial scale of the gamma radiation source and the mechanism of formation of jets
Discovery of giant bursts of X-ray double Cygnus X-1 according to archived data from the BATSE experiment
At least once, you've thought about space adventures, right?
The book belongs to the genre of hard science fiction. It concerns the colonization of a habitable—but initially dead—exoplanet, sixty light years from Earth. With this, the author has attempted to stay within the framework of known physics, with many thousands of years of flight time and tens of thousands of years involved in running a program for the “revitalization” of the planet. The colonization of the planet begins successfully enough, but then the story of the new world begins to unfold in an unforeseen manner...
